PITTSBURGH, June 05, 2024–(BUSINESS WIRE)–United States Steel Corporation (NYSE: X) announced it has awarded 20 college scholarships to students across the country. “Our exceptional people have been and always will be the heart of U. S. Steel. By investing in our U. S. Since 1995, the U. S. All winners will be enrolled full-time in an accredited two- or four-year college or university or vocational-technical school in the United States for the 2024-2025 academic year.
Two scholarships – the Maverick Award and Trailblazer Award – were established in 2023 in honor of two U. S. Steel retirees. The recipients receive a one-time $5,000 scholarship in addition to the U. S. Steel Scholarship for a total of $7,500. The Maverick Award is given in honor of Barry Melnkovic, retired Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer, to a student dedicated to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion either in study or extracurricular activities.
