After feedback, ICE revises Encompass SDK transition timeline

Clients who want to continue using ICE Mortgage Technology‘s legacy Software Development Kit (SDK) technology on Encompass will have a six-month grace period from the original Oct. 31, 2025, transition deadline to the API-based platform before any charges are incurred.

The company sees the new transition timeline as an “extension” rather than a delay, offering clients additional assistance in migrating code to the more modern architecture on Encompass.

In an email to Encompass clients, ICE Mortgage Technology President Tim Bowler mentioned that after engaging extensively with clients, he received clear messages that will guide the company’s approach to the transition.

“Firstly, enhancing efficiency and improving the borrower experience are top priorities for you. ICE is investing in delivering an API-first, cloud-based platform that reduces latency and replaces outdated architecture. Clients who have transitioned to our API-based solutions are seeing an average financial benefit of $149 per loan (independent study from MarketWise Advisors Q1 2024). Feedback from partners and clients also emphasizes how API calls outperform SDK calls in speed, resulting in significant monthly savings on CPU and server maintenance. These benefits are available to all Encompass clients without the need to transition to the web.

Secondly, many clients have expressed a desire for a gradual shift to APIs, preferring to delay hard cutoff dates for SDK functionalities until they are ready for a complete transition to APIs. ICE values collaboration during this transition period and is committed to providing the necessary support.”

ICE announced that customers wishing to continue using SDK after Oct. 31, 2025, will need to sign up for transitional SDK access, with SDK calls costing $0.50 per unit starting in May. The revised timeline plans for a complete sunsetting by April 30, 2027.

“We understand the complexity and effort required by our customers in making this transition and will provide a six-month, no-charge grace period following the October 2025 date,” the company mentioned in the email, ensuring a “collaborative” sunsetting date.

As reported by HousingWire last month, ICE is also phasing out its legacy CRM and fully transitioning to the more modern Surefire technology.
