About IGAD
The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) is a Regional Economic Community (REC) representing eight member states: Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, and Uganda. Originally established to address drought and disaster in the Horn of Africa, IGAD now plays a crucial role in promoting peace, security, regional integration, and sustainable development.
Call for Applications: IGAD Internship Program 2025
Location: IGAD Offices in Member States
Duration: Three Months (Non-Renewable)

Supported by the Government of Japan, this internship program offers placements for 14 young professionals, with two participants selected from each IGAD member country. Interns will be assigned to different IGAD divisions based on their academic background and interest in areas such as governance, development, or gender equality.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the IGAD 2025 Internship, applicants must:
- Be between 21 and 27 years of age at the start of the internship
- Be a national of an IGAD member state
- Hold at least a Bachelor’s degree or be enrolled in a Master’s program
- Have no more than two years of post-graduate work experience
- Be fluent in English (knowledge of French is an advantage)
- Demonstrate good communication skills, time management, and self-motivation
- Be familiar with basic computer applications
