Cave Joins Mr. Cooper as Chief Regulatory Officer
Cave will report directly to Kurt Johnson, the company’s EVP and CFO. With over three decades of experience in the federal banking regulatory sector, Cave has held leadership roles at the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) and Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC).
During his tenure as the chief fintech officer at the FHFA in 2023, Cave led the agency’s first tech sprint, which brought together experts and practitioners from the technology and mortgage finance sectors to address common challenges.
The focus of the first tech sprint was on how data digitization could enhance transparency and accessibility in mortgage lending. The FHFA continued this initiative in 2024, exploring how gen AI could contribute to solving housing affordability issues.
Cave is a published author on fintech adoption in HousingWire and has also been featured on the HousingWire Daily podcast. He is a graduate of Bryant University and previously served as a principal at Piedmont Risk Advisors, LLC, a firm he founded to provide strategic advisory services for financial institutions.
In his new role at Mr. Cooper, Cave will work closely with regulators, industry associations, advocacy groups, and government agencies to enhance support for the company’s customers.
