CoStar Group is bolstering its executive team amid the intensifying “portal wars.” The company recently welcomed back Richard Simonelli as the new head of investor relations, after his five-year hiatus from the firm. Additionally, Cyndi Eakin has been promoted to chief accounting officer.
Simonelli, who previously served as CoStar’s vice president of investor and public relations for eight years, returns to the company after working as an independent consultant and senior vice president of industry relations at Compass. His extensive experience also includes executive positions at the New York Stock Exchange, Citigate Dewe Rogerson, MS&L, MWW Group, and Abbey Road Partners (now known as Simonelli Capital).
CoStar Group’s CEO and founder, Andy Florance, expressed his excitement about Simonelli’s return and Eakin’s promotion, highlighting their valuable contributions to the company’s growth. Eakin, who has been with CoStar since 2016, will now oversee corporate accounting, revenue reporting, tax compliance, and financial reporting in her new role.
In June, CoStar appointed Christian Lown as the chief financial officer, bringing expertise in M&A, capital markets, and corporate finance. Both Simonelli and Eakin will report to Lown in their respective roles.
Despite recent legal challenges from Realtor.com‘s parent company, CoStar remains focused on its expansion and innovation within the real estate industry. Florance dismissed the accusations as a “PR stunt,” emphasizing CoStar’s commitment to integrity and growth.
