Target and Scholarship America Collaborate to Offer Emergency Assistance to Students Affected by Hurricanes
By Scholarship America
As students across the nation navigate through the fall semester, those in the Southeast are grappling with the aftermath of Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton. The destruction caused by these hurricanes has raised pressing concerns for these college students, such as housing, rebuilding, and financial stability to continue their education.
To address the immediate needs of affected students, Target has allocated $250,000 for disaster relief emergency grants. Students in North Carolina and Florida who have been impacted by the hurricanes can now apply for emergency aid awards of up to $500.
“In the aftermath of Hurricanes Helene and Milton, we have been actively engaged in supporting the affected communities in their recovery efforts,” stated Ron Brown, Target’s VP of Community Impact. “Through our partnership with Scholarship America, Target is committed to assisting college students facing financial hardships post-disaster, enabling them to pursue their educational and career aspirations.”
Scholarship America is honored to oversee this crucial emergency aid initiative as part of its mission to break down barriers to education. With Target’s pivotal support and Scholarship America’s administrative proficiency, swift assistance can be provided to those in need within a month of the hurricanes.
Thanks to Target’s contribution, this emergency aid program can make a significant impact. With additional support from donors nationwide, its reach can be expanded even further.
Individuals looking to assist students in dire need can donate through GoFundMe. Target’s initial funding will cover administrative expenses, ensuring that every donation directly benefits a student, accelerating their recovery process and enabling them to stay on course towards their objectives despite natural disasters.
“Returning to school in the aftermath of a natural calamity can be daunting,” remarked Scholarship America CEO Mike Nylund. “We are pleased to collaborate with Target in aiding students to rebuild, recuperate, and pursue their aspirations once again.”
