The luxurious Four Seasons Hotel New York, located at 57 East 57th Street, is reopening after a four-year hiatus. Owned by Beanie Babies creator Ty Warner, the hotel is set to reclaim its title as the city’s most expensive hotel, with rates as high as $80,000 per night for its extravagant Ty Warner Penthouse suite, as reported by the New York Post.

Originally launched in the 1990s as the first hotel to charge $1,000 per night, the Four Seasons Hotel New York now offers rooms with rates more than double that amount. The hotel, designed by architect I.M. Pei, features modern-deco rooms spanning from the 20th to 52nd floors, with the opulent Ty Warner Penthouse occupying the top floor.

The penthouse, spanning 4,300 square feet, boasts four glass balconies offering breathtaking views of Manhattan. Lavish interiors include hand-lacquered walls with mother-of-pearl inlay, bronze-and-vine-leaf ceiling-to-floor bookcases, and a stunning glass chandelier, all designed by renowned artists and craftsmen.

Additional amenities in the penthouse include a Zen Room with a cascading waterfall wall, a Bösendorfer baby grand piano, a private spa, and access to massages from the L.RAPHAEL Spa upon request.

The hotel’s next phase will introduce luxury extended-stay rentals from the 5th to 19th floors, along with amenities such as a gym, cocktail bar, steam room, and family-friendly services.

Aside from the New York property, Ty Warner also owns other prestigious resorts, including the Kona Village Resort in Hawaii, Las Ventanas al Paraiso in Mexico, and the San Ysidro Ranch in California, where President John F. Kennedy and Jackie Kennedy honeymooned.

Warner’s impressive hotel portfolio was built using profits from the sale of Beanie Babies, with his current net worth estimated at $6.5 billion, according to Forbes.
